Intention:

Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

 

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

 

Introduction:

This firmware update is based on version 2.2 which was not the latest official released operation system by Sequential Circuits (SCI), but the most common. Latest version was 3.0 and has different SRAM configuration and a slightly different memory map. This operation system update/upgrade requires one eprom.

How to check current version:

Press both “MIDI Channel” and “MIDI Mode” at the same time.

Features/improvements:

• Synth voices can now be freely toggled ON/OFF, in sequencer mode (even when it is running, which brings a lot of options for “jam” use), in unison mode (to make 1-5 voices unisons instead of 6), or even in poly mode (although not very useful because the voices are still assigned).
• “To Tape + track 1-6”: Disable the corresponding voice, it really is a forced “note off” because the release stage is still played if the voice was sounding.
• “From Tape + track 1-6”: Re-enable the corresponding voice, the next assigned note can play again.
• Pitch bender routing can now be changed from VCO to VCF:
• “To Tape + Auto-Correct”: Switch to Bender -> VCF.
• “From Tape + Auto-Correct”: Return to Bender -> VCO (boot default).
• Disabled sending the sequencer notes to the MIDI output in “local off” mode (“MIDI channel + 9” to toggle it), allowing clean control of an external synth with the keyboard at the same time as the sequencer runs.

Note:

This will not work for device, which is pre-fitted with 3.0.

⸎ Backup any data you don’t want to lose before starting. Factory Reset is often required, when you replace the firmware to flush-out data from the old system.
