Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

 

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

This is firmware update 3.2 for RMX-16, these are the latest official released operation systems by AMS. This operation system update/upgrade requires four eprom chips.

Info:

The AMS RMX16 is one of the most renowned reverb processors. Nearly every name studio owns at least one, and they have been used on countless hit records.

A set of 4 new program IC’s easily plug into the Program Interface Board. With the kit installed you’ll have all 17 RMX16 programs — the 9 you had before, and 8 more:

History:

The RMX16 was originally released with 9 programs: Ambience, Room A1, Hall C1, Plate A1. Hall B3, Chorus 1, Echo A, Nonlin 2, and Reverse 1. AMS included a 9-pin serial port on the rear, which interfaced with the RMX16 remote control unit.

After the RMX16 went into production AMS created new 8 reverb programs and implemented a novel install method. The new AMS programs were converted to long bar codes, and printed on letter size sheets. By using a bar code reader with the RMX16 remote, the owner (or his AMS dealer) could scan the bar code sheets and upload up to 3 programs. The were stored in battery backup RAM, in program locations 10, 11, and 12.

Pretty neat, but the install method was difficult, and there were some downsides. Since the programs were in stored in battery RAM, they were lost when the battery failed. In many RMX16 versions, if programs 10-12 were empty, scrolling past 9 would crash the unit — to reboot, you had to flip the power off and on. And of course, you were limited to just 3 of the 8 programs.

some very early RMX16’s only have a one digit LED display for the program number. On these machines program 10 displays as 0, 11 displays as 1, 12 displays as 2, and so on. But you still have all 17 programs, and all the program names appear in the text section of the display. (This is a hardware limitation of the early machines, that cannot be updated.)

Also, RMX16’s from a certain production period have a known bug, where scrolling above program #17 causes a system crash. Since there is no program 18, and program 17 (Freeze) is almost never used, this is rarely an issue.
