Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

 

Introduction

This is firmware update 1.02 and is the latest official released operation system by Roland released Feb 1990. This operation system update/upgrade require one eprom chip.

Revisions:

1.01

• In Patch Temporary Area, when MIDI Exclusive Data (8 different parts and a rhythm part) is sent, “tone” and “bender range” to be varied do not change.
• With 2-byte-message, when “FC”H is inserted between the first byte and the second byte, the status and the first byte become indefinite.
• Some noise originated when PCM partial was truncated. The noise is reduced.

1.02

• Sometimes no sound was output at power on. (At power on, the unit recognized that the value of master volume was “0”, so audio signal could not pass through “VCA” circuit. Note: Concerning all the unit with ver. 1.01, some hardware (CR value change) modifications have been carried out to cure this problem instead of the software revision to ver.
• Refer to Service Info No. 100420 for the hardware modification.

Notes:

Certain CM-32L hardware revisions do not come with pre-installed removable DIP-28 ROM sockets. I can provide a DIP-28 socket for you to solder in to your CM-32L at no additional cost, if needed.

⸎ Backup any data you don’t want to lose before starting. Factory Reset is often required, when you replace the firmware to flush-out data from the old system.
