Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

 

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

 

Introduction:

Alternative firmware ROM for the Yamaha DX9 synthesiser. Its aim is to uplift the DX9’s functionality to more closely match that of the DX7. It restores features that were intentionally restricted in the firmware, such as increasing the operator count to six, and adding a pitch envelope generator. This ROM makes the synth properly patch-compatible with the DX7.

 

New Features:

• Makes the DX9 able to play DX7 patches.
• Restores the use of all six operators.
• The synth is now sensitive to the velocity of incoming MIDI notes.
• Implements the DX7’s pitch EG.
• Implements DX7 style operator scaling.
• Implements DX7 style portamento/glissando.

 

Note:

• Hold down the FUNCTION button as the synth boots up after the installation
• Early model DX9s had the ROM installed on two EPROM chips
• Unfortunately the DX9 features considerably less RAM than the DX7, therefore is all features not featured.
