Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

Introduction

This is firmware update 2.21, 3.2 & 4.01 and is the latest official released operation system by Oberheim for the device with memory expansion. This operation system update/upgrade requires two eprom chips.

Check installed software version:

Press [3], [5] and [7] simultaneously

Info about OS revisions:

• 2.21 – Latest OS for the [Basic units]
• 3.20 – Latest OS for units with [Memory expansion installed]
• 4.01 – Latest units with [Factory midi]

 

Features/improvements for 2.21:

• Improved – New cassette routine to improve cassette interface reliability.
• Fixed – Delay between sequences, while playing a song.
• Fixed – Occasionally memory drops.
• Fixed – Sync-to-tape compatibility between DMX and DSX
• Fixing – Synchronizing to tape glitches.
• Fixed – Occasionally wrong sequence is playing.
• Added – Possibility to erase notes in “Record mode”

• Improved – New cassette routine to improve cassette interface reliability.
• Improved – uniform operation, ability to change quantization, swing ..etc. on the fly.
• Added – Options to personalize user control.

Oberheim DMX – Diagnostic Debug Eprom

This is the diagnostic eprom and released by Oberheim with the purpose of troubleshooting issues. This diagnostic tool requires one eprom chip. This tool can help you determine what IC or part that might gone faulty.

Note:

• The socket for the eprom is located in IC 18.
• Diagnostics procedure instructions can be found in the service manual.
• Debug firmware is not compatible with devices, which has the midi board. [Reference to your service manual]
