Intention:

Mono Tanz provided firmware updates for Drum machines, Synthesizers, Samplers and other Music equipment for many years, both on Reverb and eBay worldwide. We have reached a point, where it is no longer worth to run a store selling eproms with firmware, on portals like Reverb and eBay, as these websites has been widely affected with local, European and international regulations to make the administration burden and existence absurd. We still want to ensure, that end-users still have the ability to update their devices, therefore is availability & knowledge very important.

 

This is how it works:

1. After the order you will receive the Binary incl. the instructions of what Eprom(s) types you need per download link.
2. You can place an order with the binary at an online-burning service, like buyicnow.com or use your own Eprom burner.

Above will not only give you a lower price point, but also higher quality than any crook-store found on eBay or Reverb etc..

 

Introduction

This is firmware version of 1.0.7, which is the latest official released operation system by Roland on October 1987. This operation system update/upgrade requires two eprom chips.

 

How to check current version?

Hold 4, Rhythm, and Master Volume when turning the unit on.

 

Revisions:

1.04 – unknown, initial release.

1.05 – Volume knob changes are now interpolated as opposed to directly applied to the data, allowing for much smoother volume changes when using the knob

1.06 – Rhythm selection Bender Control is now reset when MIDI All parameter reset is recieved, and when MT-32 Active Sensing is not received. Displays will not change, even when a Display Change exclusive MIDI message is recognized, unless the current mode is Master Volume input mode (e.g. Power-up default)

1.07 – Fixes a bug related to specific values in uninitialized sram on startup causing the unit to act bizarre. For stable program operation. If the program won’t start after replacing SRAM IC29 or 3

1.7 Blue Ridge [above included plus] – Backed RAM modification to avoid MT-32 clearing the RAM after each restart.

 

Note:

• This firmware is not compatible with the revision 2.XX hardware devices, due to that Roland changed the circuit boards [Those with headphone socket or serial Z95XXXX]
• The Blue Ridge modification requires, some soldering/DIY know-how.
• The two chips are located at IC 26 and IC 27.
• Some PCB revisions may not have IC sockets.
